When designing and developing the UP, ID AID followed two conceptual approaches: Mobility and movement in the workplace.

On the one hand, the goal was to create a solution for temporary co-working in one fixed shared workspace. We are all familiar with the situation, for example, in which a work colleague bends over your desk, crouches, kneels or adopts a similar position when you are trying to show them something on your monitor. The UP has been developed as a temporary seating solution and standing aid for these everyday office scenarios.
Moreover, the stool and standing aid can always be moved in every direction thanks to the convex design of its floor stand, and promote active sitting or standing. UP encourages the user to change how they are sitting and to move more throughout their (working) day, so that they are sometimes on their office chair, sometimes on the UP, sometimes standing up and sometimes on the standing aid.

The red fabric strap serves both as the handle for height adjustment and as a characteristic design element. Using the product is simple and intuitive. Thanks to its simplicity, height-adjustability and transportability, the UP allows for plenty of uses across an extremely wide range of applications. With the Junior Edition, its field of application can be extended to include use in schools, for example. Its clean lines and deliberately minimalistic look allows the multi-purpose bar stool to be integrated harmoniously into any scenario.
