Not all plastics are created equal. Interstuhl uses materials that possess high flexibility. Due to this, the plastic elements keep people moving even while they are sitting down. The plastics used boast high-grade surfaces, durability and are colour-fast and non-fading. Depending on the product, different colours can also be selected for frames, bases and seat shells, for example. This further increases the variability in the product design.

The upholstery in our products is made of foam manufactured at our foaming facility and has a particularly high density. In this way, we can ensure that it remains comfortable for years to come. Depending on the product, you can choose between a wide range of different covers, such as fabrics, synthetic leather and real leather in different colours. The materials differ in terms of their characteristics, such as the look and feel, yet all of them meet the high demands on quality and durability, and they pose no risk to health or the environment.

All wooden parts in our products are crafted from high-quality raw materials. The wood types that we use include beech, maple, walnut and cherry wood, Makassar and oak. Oak is one of the most valuable types of native timber and a great choice for furniture thanks to its durability and appealing look. We have deliberately chosen not to use glazes or other colour modifications for our wooden parts. Thus, the warm character of this natural material is retained.

At Interstuhl, an extremely wide range of robust metals are processed and are used for different parts, depending on the product. Robust tubular steel is used for the base frames. These are available for example with a chrome finish or with a black or white coating. The four-star and five-star swivel bases are made from cast aluminium. This material is sturdy, lightweight and does not rust. The bases are available with different surfaces, such as polished aluminium, chrome, brilliant silver and black or white-coated.
